Yep…you’ve read it right. I am officially moving to Kindle!
If you follow my bookstagram, you’ve probably noticed I’ve been posting more photos of my Kindle recently. So this may not come as new for you.
The reason why I chose to move to Kindle is connected to some news I have not yet shared with you guys. I will go more into detail about it later, but I am really excited to tell you all about it.
So here is the story!
A Christmas Gift
I got my first Kindle in December as a Christmas gift. It wasn’t really a surprise, I actually requested it specifically. I was decided on start reading more Kindles, so the logical step was to actually get one.
I was planning on getting it myself, but my mother is the kindest woman and she gifted it to me. She got me the most gorgeous Plum Paperwhite Kindle. It looks so beautiful I don’t want to cover it with a case.
It even matches my beanie! It is amazing and I love it.
The Exciting News…
In February of this year, I am moving to Europe and starting a life as a Digital Nomad!
I’m actually traveling with my best friend. The two of us have been planning this for over a year now and it is finally happening.
I was born and raised in Guatemala, which is a small country in Central America. Since I was a little girl I’ve loved traveling. My whole family does, actually, and I’ve had the privilege of traveling to the US many times to visit my family living there. The older I got, the more I traveled independently. I’ve visited New York all by myself, traveled to Uruguay while in university, and many cool places.
But my love for Europe comes from a while back. When I was 18 years old, I got the opportunity to visit Germany and Italy and I fell in love. I promised myself I would go back, and I hadn’t been able to…until now!
Once my friend and I graduated from university, we planned on living as Digital Nomads. We saved up all of our money, got our plane tickets, and we’re never coming back!
What Is a Digital Nomad?
A Digital Nomad is basically someone that works remotely and lives in different places all over the world. I work as a freelance writer and content creator, so everything I do, I do it from the comfort of my computer and my phone.
It’s great! and it gives me the opportunity to travel and not worry about being stuck in an office five days a week.
What Does This Have To Do With Moving To Kindle?
Well, since I’ll be traveling the world I will not have room to carry all of my books with me.
I’m only taking a carry-on suitcase and a backpack. As much as I would like to take all of my favorite books with me and purchase more as I go, I know they will take up too much space. It just isn’t functional to what I want to accomplish.
So I’m moving to Kindle!
I already read a few ebooks every now and then, but nothing too serious. I read them through the app on my phone, which wasn’t really comfortable. Now that I have my own Kindle, I can easily take it with me on my travels and enjoy reading all the books I wish to read this year!
I’ve already finished my first book of the year on Kindle and it was a wonderful experience. It is comfortable and so useful.
Of course, I will miss having my physical copies. I will always prefer the smell of a new book and running my fingers through the pages. But for now, Kindle is my new best friend.
There is so much more I want to tell you about my plans. I leave in exactly a month and am excited and a little terrified. I will for sure tell you more about my plans once the trip gets closer.
But for now, that is all.
