I’ve never been someone that highlights or marks my favorite quotes in books. Marking my books has always been a huge no for me. Now that I’m reading more on Kindle, I can highlight them and not feel guilty.
So I’ve been saving my favorite quotes on Goodreads and I thought it would be a good idea to share them with all of you!
So here are my favorite book quotes of all time!

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
J.R.R. Tolkien is one of my favorite authors of all time. I admire his work so much and every time I read Lord of the Rings or watch the movies I feel so inspired.
I love this quote in particular because of how true it hits me. It reminds me that we’re all placed in this world and it is up to us to decide what to do with our lives. We get to make our own choices and build our lives as we like them. I actually have this quote written down in so many places so I can always remember it.
Things can turn out differently, Apollo. That’s the nice thing about being human. We only have one life, but we can choose what kind of story it’s going to be.
Rick Riordan, The Hidden Oracle
This quote is very similar to the previous one. The meaning behind it is pretty much the same as Tolkien’s, which is why I love it so much. This one is clearer on the meaning, but it is a beautiful reminder.
Books loved anyone who opened them, they gave you security and friendship and didn’t ask for anything in return; they never went away, never, not even when you treated them badly.
Cornelia Funke, Inkheart
Cornelia Funke is the reason why I became a reader. I mean, I liked books since I was really young, but I didn’t become obsessed with literature until I read Inkheart. What I loved the most about her books was how much love and respect she showed towards literature. It really opened my eyes and made me appreciate the written word so much.
I love this quote because it is so true. Books have become a refuge for me. Whenever I’m feeling uncertain, upset, or I’m dealing with too much, I know books will always be there to offer me comfort.
We should always make time for the things we like. If we don’t, we might forget how to be happy.
T.J. Klune, The House in the Cerulean Sea
This quote stayed with me for a long time after I read The House in the Cerulean Sea. I agree with it a 100%.
I’ve always thought that people should invest time in doing things that make them happy. If we only focus on work, family, or other things we will never be truly happy. So try to do things that make you happy and you’ll realize how much more you can enjoy life!
The heart is an arrow. It demands aim to land true.
Leigh Bardugo, Six of Crows
This is a famous quote and I love everything about it! The hopeless romantic in me melts every time I read it. We can’t control who we fall in love with and all we can hope for is that it is reciprocated.
I have so many more quotes I love, but these are some of my favorites. What about you? What’s your favorite book quote?
